Our Editorial Mission

Sound Behind Curtain is an independent Asian arts media platform. We document and support Asian and cross-cultural performing arts in the UK, amplifying underrepresented voices and celebrating diversity in creative expression.

Editorial Independence

We maintain complete editorial independence. Our coverage is not influenced by advertisers, funders, or featured organisations. Editorial decisions are based solely on artistic and journalistic merit. While we may accept press tickets or invitations, these do not guarantee coverage or influence the tone of our writing. Final publication decisions rest solely with the editorial team.

Editorial Standards

We are guided by four editorial principles:

- Fairness: We represent artists and productions respectfully and truthfully.
- Inclusivity: We highlight diverse artistic voices and communities.
- Transparency: We make clear distinctions between editorial and sponsored content.

Diversity & Inclusion

Our editorial decisions reflect sensitivity to race, gender, culture, sexuality, and heritage. We actively seek to represent the diversity and international Asian creative communities.

Contribution

Sound Behind Curtain is an independently run cultural commentary platform.

From time to time, we may share community notices related to theatre and performance that are relevant to our readers. Artists and organisations whose announcements are selected for publication are invited to make a small contribution (£26) to support the maintenance of the platform.

This contribution supports the platform’s running costs and does not constitute advertising, sponsorship, or a guaranteed promotional service.

All content is published at the editorial team’s discretion.

Use of AI

We occasionally use ChatGPT or other language tools for grammar and style checks only. All of our writing, analysis, and opinions are entirely human-authored and edited by our team.
