Joyce Lao's "#40sandsingle - The Secrets to Finding Love!" Gears Up for Edinburgh Fringe and United Solo Festival, NYC

After concluding a successful preview run at The People's Improv Theater (The PIT) in New York City on July 15, 2025, Joyce Lao’s highly anticipated musical comedy variety show, “#40sandsingle – The Secrets to Finding Love!”, is now preparing for an extended two-week run at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2025, followed by a performance at the United Solo Festival in New York City in November.

Originally conceived as a pilot for a comedy series, “#40sandsingle – The Secrets to Finding Love!” is a vibrant and witty exploration of modern romance, featuring a unique blend of musical comedy and variety elements. Lao, a multi-disciplinary performer, created the show as a vehicle to combine all her passions (excluding her love for scuba and freediving) into a dynamic 50-minute theatrical experience.

The preview run at The PIT demonstrated the show’s broad appeal and Lao’s captivating stage presence. Audiences lauded the show for its humour, heartfelt storytelling, and engaging musical numbers, solidifying its potential as a breakout hit on the festival circuit.

Lao humorously incorporates her upbringing as an Indigenous, Austronesian, Asian, Filipino-American, and Protestant, combining all her observations of cult leaders, gurus, and experts into an out-of-the-box, charming production.
